Penn State Harrisburg Joins ECAC

Penn State Harrisburg has recently been accepted as one of the newest members of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).  The ECAC is the nation’s largest athletic conference and the only multi-divisional conference in the country.

The ECAC boasts nearly 300 member institutions ranging throughout 16 states from Maine to North Carolina and as westerly to Wisconsin.  Established in 1938, the ECAC, a non-service organization, sponsors nearly 100 preseason and postseason championships in 37 men’s and women’s sports for approximately 110,000 student athletes.

Penn State Harrisburg currently offers 12 men’s and women’s varsity sports and will be adding indoor and outdoor track and field for both men and women starting in the fall of 2014.  As a member of the ECAC, Penn State is eligible to earn weekly and postseason honors that recognize more than 2,500 student athletes annually.

In addition to joining the ECAC, Penn State Harrisburg also changed conferences.  As of July 1, Harrisburg has become one of three new members of the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) after competing in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) since 2007.
