Three Lions Earn Conference Weekly Awards

LATHAM, N.Y. – A trio of Penn State Harrisburg student-athletes recently earned North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Weekly Awards.

Drew Harshbarger and Matt Parks swept the conference's weekly baseball Awards, with Harshbarger earning pitcher of the week recognition and Parks being named the player of the week, while Rachael Lim was tabbed the league's women's tennis player of the week.

For Harshbarger, it is his second such honor of the season, while Parks and Lim each picked up their first weekly awards of the spring.

Harshbarger turned in another gem in a 7-0 shutout victory over Penn State Berks on Saturday afternoon. The McVeytown, Pa. native got the start, went 6.1 innings, and didn't allow a hit until the top of the seventh frame. The righty racked up 11 strikeouts on the day and earned his fifth victory of the season in the process.

Parks was stellar at the plate and recorded at least one hit in all six games last week. Most memorably, the Three Springs, Pa. native hit a walk-off grand slam to seal a 7-3 victory over No. 15 Shenandoah in extra innings on Wednesday. For the week, the third baseman racked up nine hits, including a homer and a double. The junior drove in six runs and scored five more to go along with four walks.

Lim was perfect on the week in leading the Lions to a pair of conference victories over the weekend. The sophomore teamed up with Sydney Nye to earn wins in the No. 1 doubles outings against Lancaster Bible on Saturday and Penn College the next day. The Moonachie, N.J. was also victorious in the top singles contests against each opposing squad, helping keep the Blue & White undefeated this spring.

The baseball team returns to action when the Lions host Penn State Abington for a conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon, April 24. The women's tennis team clinched the NEAC Regular Season Championship thanks to a win on Tuesday afternoon and will next compete in the conference's postseason tournament next week.
