Lion's Fall to York by One

Middletown, Pa.- Penn State Harrisburg was back on the diamond today with a home conference game against York College (Pa.).

Travis VanHouten started out solid with four shutout innings to begin the afternoon. Penn State was the first team to cross home plate with a Brubaker single in the bottom of the fourth driving home Ethan Kell, who doubled earlier in the inning. The Lions ended the fourth with the bases loaded.

York rebounded in the top of the fifth with a home run for Grant Oberholtzer. York continued their streak two innings later in the seventh with a double by Michael Moore, driving home Christian Bilan; and a single from Grant Oberholtzer bringing home Michael Moore.

Penn State wasn't finished however. Tom Dennison singled in the bottom of the seventh scoring Justin O'Dell who got on base on a fielder's choice. Their scoring drive continued after a leadoff homerun by Josh Brubaker in the bottom of the eighth.

  York's Patrick Clement responded with a homer in the top of the ninth, giving York the go-ahead run. York brought in closer Ben Demchak in the bottom of the ninth to which the Lions had no answer. Demchak received the save striking out one, ending the game with a win for York 4-3.

Travis VanHouten faced 24 batters, pitching 6.1 innings striking out 6. Brendan Riotto pitched 2.2 innings facing 12 batters with 1 strike out.

The Lions end the month of March with a 3-5 record in the conference, 7-15 overall.

A busy start to April lies ahead for Penn State as they will travel to Southern Virginia this weekend for a double header on Saturday, followed by a double header against St. Marys of Maryland on Sunday.
