Danville, Va.- The Penn State Harrisburg baseball team split against Averett on Sunday March 5th. The Lion's fell 9-3 in game one before dominating game two to grab their second win of the year 11-3.
Game 1: Averett 9 Penn State Harrisburg 3
The home team came out strong in the bottom of the first inning, jumping out to an early 4-0 start. Averett scored two runs off of a wild pitch and a throwing error by third base. The Lion's cut their lead to only one in the third thanks to a fielding error by third base as TJ Mullaly ran home. Justin O'Dell and David Klein scored off a single to right by field by Zackary Koroneos. Harrisburg was unable to get on the board again for the remainder of the game as Averett scored five more runs. In the bottom of the third, Dallas Smithers reached home plate due to a throwing error by left field. Shortly after, Averett added one more run before the end of the inning off a single to left field. The home team added three more runs off two singles in the fourth and fifth inning.
