Lion's Fall in Extra Innings to Eastern Mennonite

Harrisonburg, Va.- The Penn State Harrisburg men's baseball team battled hard against Eastern Mennonite, falling in extra innings 16-15. 

Final Score: Eastern Mennonite 16 Penn State Harrisburg 15 

Penn State Harrisburg got things starts in the top of the first with the first run of the game batted in by Jason O'Dell. Harrisburg got into trouble in the bottom of the first with the bases loaded when Eastern Mennonite's Matthews was hit by a pitch. Mennonite continued in the first on a double to bring in three. The Lions scored three more in the top of the 2nd on RBI's by Jackson Struve and Bret Williams. Eastern Mennonite quickly responded with a HR to left field by Hedrick, scoring three more.

            The Lions bounced back in the top of the fourth with a single through the right side by Scott Angstadt. The Lions scored on a fielding error by Mennonites second baseman. Tyler Aug then singled to left and two more Lions crossed home plate. Alex Cline completed Harrisburg's run streak in the fourth with a single to the left side bringing home one.

            After a shutout inning in the bottom of the fourth, the Lions continued the scoring drive in the fifth. Angstadt brought in one more on a single, advancing to second on an infielder error. Zachary Koroneos singled, scoring one, and Klein drove one up the middle scoring two more to wrap up their streak. East Mennonite fought back in the fifth and sixth innings with an error, two RBI Singles, and a deep homerun.

            After a scoreless 7th inning, the game was going to be decided in extra innings. The scoring drought continued in the 8th, but was ended in the top of the ninth by a huge rally by Penn State Harrisburg with a deep homer to left by Aug. Justin O'Dell drove one down the left field line scoring one more in the top of the ninth. Eastern Mennonite started the bottom of the ninth with a single up the middle scoring one. Penn State got into some trouble however, walking home the winning run after a long fought game. Mennonite took this meeting into extra innings, winning 15-16.
