Old Conference Foes Split Series

Old Conference Foes Split Series

Washington, D.C. - Penn State Harrisburg Baseball was looking for a little momentum as they took the field for their final road game of the season. They would be taking on an old conference rival in the Gallaudet Bison. These teams have faced off many times before in the North Eastern Atlantic Conference, but Tuesday April 28th was the first time the teams have met since Harrisburg moved to the Capital Athletic Conference.

The game was evenly matched early as both the Lions and the Bison did not allow any runs the first two innings. Then Harrisburg's Josh Brubaker (Lancaster, Pa. / Lancaster Christian) brought Chris Iocca (North Brunswick, N.J. / N Brunswick twp) home to put the Lions ahead 1-0 in the third.

Gallaudet answered in the bottom of the fifth inning, scoring two runs to take the lead. With two outs in the top of the sixth inning Harrisburg was lifted by Zachary Ottobre (Lyndhurst, N.J. / Hudson Catholic Reg) who singled down the left field line. In the next at bat, Brendan Miller (Williamstown, Pa. / Williams Valley) was walked, setting up Cody Henry (Halifax, Pa. / Halifax) to load the bases with his single into center field.   It didn't take a grand slam, but the Blue and White pressure and great base running allowed them to score two runs on wild pitches to once again take the lead and the first win of the day.

Unfortunately the Lions were not able to claim the sweep as the Bison battled back in game two.  After another tight contest, the home team was able to even the series in a similar fashion with a 3-2 win of their own in the final game of the day.

The Lions will return home for their final game of the season against the Elizabethtown Blue Jays on Wednesday April 28th.  First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m.
