Stevenson Snaps Lions Six Game Win Streak

Stevenson Snaps Lions Six Game Win Streak

Stevenson, Md. – Penn State Harrisburg has really found their stride down the final stretch of their 2015 campaign.  The Lions were not able to extend their winning streak to seven games as the Mustangs of Stevenson were able to pull away late with a 5-4 victory.

The Blue and White started off strong.  They were able to land the first punch in the top of the second inning when Kyle Buchman (Orefield, Pa. / Notre Dame) flied out to left field allowing Brendan Miller (Williamstown, Pa. / Williams Valley) to reach home and take a 1-0 lead.  The Mustangs replied with a run of their own in the bottom of the second to keep things close.  Harrisburg struck again in the fourth when Josh Brubaker (Lancaster, Pa. / Lancaster Christian) reached home off a Stevenson error.  The Mustangs answered once again with two more runs in the same inning.

Heading into the top of the ninth with the visitors trailing 4-3, Chris Iocca (North Brunswick, N.J. / N Brunswick twp) was able to bring home Kevin Kremer (Hershey, Pa. / Hershey) for the game tying run.  Unfortunately for Harrisburg, they were not able to force the game into extra innings as Stevenson won the game off a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to snap the Lions six game winning streak.

The Blue and White will look to start a new streak Thursday April 23rd when they hit the road to take on Lebanon Valley at 3:30 p.m.
