Penn State Harrisburg can’t Complete Sweep at Home

Middletown, Pa. - The Penn State Harrisburg men's baseball team was hoping to complete the sweep over the Marymount Saints on Wednesday April 1st after winning the first contest earlier in the season 14-11.  Unfortunately, the Saints had a different picture in mind for the second game of the series.

After both teams went scoreless in the first inning, Marymount opened things up in the second scoring two.  Harrisburg was still in contention until a disastrous five run inning in the fifth took the visitors lead to seven.

Penn State Harrisburg never gave up, but the Saints defensive armor was impenetrable.  Marymount's starting pitcher Dylan Gerdts was able to throw a complete game, not allowing any runs and striking out five.  The only bright spot for the Lions was Kevin Kremer (Hershey, Pa. / Hershey) who went 1-3 with a double.

The Lions will need to turn things around immediately with playoffs right around the corner as well as some very important Capital Athletic Conference games still up for grabs.  Including the next two days that consist of back to back single games against CAC rival York College.  The Lions will travel Thursday for a 3:30 p.m. game and then host the Spartans for game two on Friday also at 3:30 p.m.
