Quick Start Lifts Wesley Over Penn State Harrisburg

Dover, De. – Since starting conference play off with an impressive 14-11 victory over Marymount on March 19th, Penn State Harrisburg has gone on a five game skid, four out of the five being conference games.  Unfortunately for the Blue and White, they were not able to pick up their second CAC win of the season as they were defeated on the road against Wesley, 10-1.

Going into Wednesday's matchup, Penn State Harrisburg held a one game lead in the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC).  The Wolverines looked to pick up their second conference win and jump the Harrisburg in the conference standings, and that is exactly what they did.

Wesley got right to work in the bottom of the first where they brought home three runs and set the tone early.  The Lions were able to get on the board in the top of the third when Tom Denniston (Harrisburg, Pa. / Bishop McDevitt) grounded out to second which sent Mitchell Rodkey (Annville, Pa. / Annville-Cleona) home.  Rodkey had led the inning off with a single to left center field.

The Wolverines quickly responded in the bottom of the third inning with two more runs of their own.  Harrisburg was unable to really get the bats going and bring home runs to get themselves back into the game.  Wesley added one run in the fourth, three in the seventh, and one more in the eighth to seal the win and pick up their second CAC win of the season with an impressive 10-1 victory.

The Blue and White will attempt to get back on track Thursday March 26th, when they take on Dickinson College at home at 4pm.  They will resume conference play Saturday March 28th when conference leader Salisbury comes to town for a double-header beginning at noon.
