Harrisburg Loses to Abington; Lions Finish Regular Season in 3rd

Abington Pa. - Two Penn States Campuses met for an interesting 3rd time today in their final game of the regular season.  Abington took home the tight win 3-2 over our Harrisburg men.

This game was not your usual baseball game.  The only reason we got to see these two teams match up again was because Abington was found to have used an illegal bat in the first contest of the year that they won 4-3, but had to replay today.

The home squad got on the board first with a big third inning that had to two big doubles mixed in with a single for three earned runs.  Harrisburg could not find their rhythm today as Cody Henry was the only player to have two hits.   The visiting Lions did make a run in the top of the seventh.  Branden Rutt (Ephrata, Pa. / Ephrata) and Brian Balshy (Palmyra, Pa. / Palmyra) both earned RBI's which brought them close, but not enough for a win.  Harrisburg finished their final season game with a 2-3 loss to Abington.

This puts them in third place heading into playoffs this upcoming weekend.  Their first game of the double elimination tournament will be against this year's rival Penn State Abington.  Everyone starts even on Friday.  Harrisburg has finished well in most sports this season, but no Championships.  Hopefully the men's baseball team can change that.
