Gallaudet Too Much to Handle for Lions

Middletown Pa - The Blue & White men's baseball team had high hopes of winning out the weekend and guaranteeing themselves home field advantage into the playoffs, but after losing two straight to the Gallaudet Bison 8-1 and 4-1 on Saturday the road to a championship has changed.

The Lions took their first and only lead of the day in the bottom of the third inning when Branden Rutt (Ephrata, Pa. / Ephrata) singled to right field for an RBI that scored Cody Henry (Halifax, Pa. / Halifax).   From that point on it was all Bison.  They scored two in the 4th and 5th inning to win the first contest of the day 4-1.  Pitcher Will Chaney (Lancaster, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg) was a positive note on the day as he kept the visitors from scoring another run closing the final three innings.

Game two was even less pleasant for the uninspired lions that were fighting to win the regular season crown and host the conference playoffs.   Gallaudet scored early and often on way to an 8-1 win.

Harrisburg will need to find their focus tomorrow when they travel to play their final game of the regular season against Penn State Abington.  This will determine where they will be seeded in the NEAC Conference Championships.
