Abington , Pa. -  The Blue and White men's baseball team had their undefeated conference record and 16 game win streak come to a close today.  Penn State Abington tightened the playoff picture by winning both games in Sundays match up.  The Home squad won the first game in the bottom of the seventh inning 4-3 and the late afternoon game 6-3. 

Harrisburg gave up one run in both the first and third inning forcing them to battle uphill in an effort to keep their streak alive.  Dalton Trolinger (Carlisle Pa. / Cumberland Valley) singled with a bunt in the fifth to move Tim Gonzalez (Whittier, Cal. / St. Paul) and Clay Thrasher (Hummelstown, Pa. / Lower Dauphin) who scored thanks to a throwing error that also moved Gonzales to third.  Cody Henry (Halifax, Pa. / Halifax) than brought the Gonzalez with a ground out to the ss for an RBI. 

With things all tied at 2-2, Penn State Abington responded with another run in the bottom of the fifth to stay on top.  The Lions quickly responded when Trolinger again helped get the Lions some runs, singling to bring in Ross Baker (Hummelstown, Pa. /Lower Dauphin) and again tie the game. 

Unfortunately, Harrisburg's Tom Chaney (Lancaster, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg) was unable to repeat from  his success from the day before and gave up one run in the bottom of the seventh which gave the home squad the win, breaking Harrisburg's 16 game streak. 

In the late game, Harrisburg could not seem to regain their focus after the difficult defeat from the early game.  The visiting lions gave up four runs in the first three innings before they got a chance to get on the board in the fourth.  John Cataldo (Pine Grove, Pa. / Pine Grove) used his single to get an RBI and gave the Lions a chance to get in the game.  Thrasher then hit a SAC fly to score another runner and bring the game to a 4-2 score. 

Another quick run in the fifth put Harrisburg within one run.  Unfortunately the home squad scored another two runs in the sixth to close out Harrisburg's chances of making a comeback and evening the series. 

Penn State Abington moves into first place with their 8-2 record, which is the exact same as Harrisburg's but the head to head tie breaker does not go in our favor.  The Lions will travel to face off against Gallaudet University this upcoming weekend to see where the chips will fall and who will host the NEAC Championships the following week.
