Lions Thrash Cazenovia; Extend Win Streak to Seven Games

Cazenovia, NY -Penn State Harrisburg used big offensive outputs in both outings to hand Cazenovia a pair of 16-3 losses in the teams' doubleheader on Sunday, Apr. 7. Travis Crammer (Cerritos, Cal / Cerritos) homered twice and Brian Balshy (Palmyra, Pa. / Palmyra) went yard in the first game while Will Chaney (Lancaster, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg) and Clint Hicks (State College, Pa. / State College) picked up victories on the mound.

For a long part of this spring season, we have been waiting for the Lions to break their losing record and reach the .500 mark overcoming that hurdle.  Last week they finally reached that goal and what came next was a 7 game win streak.

Their most recent two wins came about on Sunday vs the Cazenovia Wildcats.  Harrisburg started the game off strong getting three runs in the first inning, but in the bottom of the 1st gave two runs back and another run in the 3rd to let the Wildcats tie things up.  The last four innings went all in favor of Harrisburg.  They scored 13 runs in four innings to win their biggest game of the year so far 16-3.

Balshy went 3-3 from the plate; including a HR, 4 RBI's, and 2 runs scored.  Crammer went 2-2, walking twice and also getting an HR.  Center fielder Dalton Trolinger (Carlisle Pa. / Cumberland Valley) went an impressive 4-5, scoring three runs.

No one could have picked the score for game two, but amazingly after another impressive game for the Lions at the plate, they got their second win of the day with the same 16-3 score.  The game stayed close for the first three innings with a score of 3-3.  Crammer got things moving for Harrisburg with a three run shot in the 4th, his second homerun of the day. The fifth, sixth, and seventh all produced runs and the Lions went home with another 16-3 win.

Harrisburg hopes to keep the momentum and win streak going when they host Elizabethtown College this Wednesday at 3:30.
