Klingerman & Lions Roar Over Green Terror

Klingerman & Lions Roar Over Green Terror

Westminster Md. - Jim Klingerman (Telford, Pa. / Souderton) remains flawless after gaining his third win of the season against the McDaniel College Green Terror.  The Lions took advantage of a five run third inning en route to a strong 8-1 win on the road.

Penn State Harrisburg has had one goal in mind since losing a few tight games early this season; get back to .500 while improving their focus and play every game.  So far this season that is exactly what has continued to happen.  With Tuesday's win over McDaniel the Lions are now just one game from reaching that goal and starting a new one.

The Blue and White defense was strong early and starting Pitcher Klingerman kept the Green Terror at bay throughout the early innings.  This allowed the Lion offense to swing freely.  In the top of the third Colton Houseal (Maytown, Pa. / Donegal) singled to first base helping to get the big inning started.  Branden Rutt (Ephrata, Pa. / Ephrata)reached first on a muffed throw before Bryan Balshy (Palmyra, Pa. / Palmyra) singled through the left side for one of his three RBI's scoring Houseal.  The lions would score 5 runs in the inning matching their biggest inning total of the year.

The Lions continued to hit the ball well and added one more run in the fourth, sixth, and ninth innings.  Travis Crammer (Cerritos, Cal. / Cerritos) kept his hitting streak going adding two doubles to his impressive season totals.  While Balshy was the big man at the plate today going 3-5, with 3 RBI's, and a scored run.  Crammer and Branden Rutt each scored twice leading the team.

Starting Pitcher Klingerman earned his third win of the season and is now a perfect 3-0.  The Lions are really coming together as a team and the success is coming from all angles.  Harrisburg plays Gettysburg Friday and Stevenson Saturday,  two home games that will hopefully both go our way and give the Lions a winning record and new goal to come up with to start out next weeks busy game schedule.
