Trent Verlin is entering his first season with Penn State Harrisburg. He will be mainly working with catchers and pitchers.  He will also be responsible for many recruiting duties. Verlin comes to Harrisburg from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California where he was a student coach.  At Pacific, he worked under former big leaguers Ed Sprague and Mike Neu, who is currently the head coach at the University of California Berkeley. 

In his 3 years at Pacific, Verlin did a number of different jobs. He assisted coach Neu in all areas of pitching and in charge of field maintenance. In 2017 he was also the bullpen coach.

In 2015, Verlin was a camp director for the University of the Pacific Baseball Camps. In 2017, Verlin worked and helped run numerous camps and events, including the NCITS selection game for USA baseball at Pacific.

Verlin has also had success as head coach of the West Lane Mets in California.  During the three years he was head coach, the team had a 58-27 record.  In 2015, the team was ranked 10th in California by USSSA. In 2016 and 2017, Verlin’s Mets fell one game short of the American Legion State tournament.

Verlin first attended Delta Junior College where he was a catcher for the 2014 state runner up Mustangs.  He is originally from Stockton, CA and graduated from the University of Pacific with his BA in Sports Management.
